OK Not really! But people were very confused as to what she was!

Misfits Rehab got a call about a potentially sick fox with severe mange. Once we got her we have her the standard treatment for mange but then realized wait a minute... she's not all crusty! This must be something else!

Her skin scrap was negative for mange but she did have quite a few intestinal parasites so we thought maybe... MAYBE she was having "hair loss" from a heavy parasite load!!! So she went through several rounds of worming before they all cleared out of her system. But she was still not a fluffy fox!

What we had never heard of before is this new gene mutation! Originally more common in red fox, there is a gene mutation called "Samsons fox" which causes the fox to have short, coarse hair and a thicker fat layer. Eventually, Kathi from Wilderness Miracles who was working under us at the time got her own facility set up and took in Chupa until she was released as a funny looking short haired grey fox!
